Richmond Pledge Drive and Fund-Raiser Dinner - Summer 2008

We are inviting people to make formal pledges and commitments of funds to support the Institute in procuring and delivering twelve (12) EcOasis Pod units for use in high-need, high-risk sites around the world by 2009.

This means $2,000,000.

  • $1,440,000 for the Pods: $120K each to build, transport and maintain for eight years minimum (the usable lifespan of each Pod can be upwards of 20 years).
  • $560,000 for Institute operations over the next two years including the inevitable costs of fund-raising and infrastructure

Each pledge counts and matters.

Each action counts and matters.

You count and matter.

For the Virginia Tech 32

Please help us to establish the Virginia Tech 32 Memorial EcOasis (tentative name).

We think it would be very fitting and appropriate to set up a full-function EcOasis "Pod" either at Virginia Tech (Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University) or else at another location, the site and details to be determined by consensus and agreement involving the families of the thirty-two victims and the community of Virginia Tech.

Additional information can be found in a specific proposal (click here).

Please think about making a commitment to help with either financial or other support. As this specific project moves forward, we will need your expressions of intended support in order to pull together critical institutional attention and support. As you know, getting doors to open in "high places" is often harder than raising money, and often the key is being able to show that you have the Numbers - the people and the money. We don't need your money right this minute and we are not asking you to send a check right now, either. We just want you to show support for what is not just a nice idea and a nice memorial, but something that is going to be used and used and used to give, give give to People - to give water, light, medicine, and knowledge, in the form of at least one EcOasis Pod system, be it on the campus of Virginia Tech or perhaps, if the families and friends prefer, in some village on the other side of the world, where families and kids will grow up and live a better life, knowing about and remembering:

Our Plan, Our Board, Our Advisors

We have a formal business plan established and invite interested parties to review it, for purposes of joining our Board of Directors, joining our Advisory Council, or otherwise supporting the EcOasis Project.

Validation and Credentials

As with any program, particularly one that aims to make a significant impact on world sustainability, global climate change and health, and certainly for one that is dependent upon grants and charitable contributions, it is important to get to the heart of the matter about credibility and reliability.

EcOasis is presently very mature in technical and systematic respects. The team that will manage the configurations and installations is mature. The project is new and we are in the process of establishing the relationships with those organizations and people who will enable us to install EcOases around the world where they are needed.

We can provide references for the organizers, for the technical components involved, and for the companies that produce these components. Also our financial behavior will be quite open for review. Just ask.
